TIES THAT BIND Asia – Europe Co-Production Workshop has become the reference for developing European-Asian co-productions. To name just some of the most recent success stories, THE SEEN AND UNSEEN by Kamila Andini premiered in TIFF’s Platform section 2017, BITTER FLOWERS by Olivier Meys had its international premiere in Fast Forward section of the Busan International Film Festival 2017, and in 2016, A YELLOW BIRD by K. Rajagopal premiered in Semaine de la Critique Cannes 2016, DOG DAYS by Jordan Schiele had its premiere in Berlinale’s Panorama 2016 and INTERCHANGE by Dain Iskandar Said was screened on Piazza Grande of Festival del Film Locarno 2016.

Now, the second TTB workshop will take place in Singapore (Nov 27 – Dec 1, 2017). The participants will continue to develop and package their projects under the guidance of TTB Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher (Ici et Là Productions, FR), Clare Downs (Script Consultant, UK), Shanty Harmayn (Salto Films, ID), Elise Jalladeau (Thessaloniki IFF, GR). Nicolas Brigaud-Robert (Playtime, FR) will elaborate on the international market for independent films. Bianca Balbuena (Epicmedia Productions, PH) and Jonas Weydemann (Weydemann Bros., DE) will give detailed advice on the project finance plans.

Furthermore, TTB graduate Valérie Bournonville (Tarantula, BE) will gave insight a 4 countries co-production of BITTER FLOWERS by Olivier Meys with France (Mille et Une Films), Switzerland (PS Productions), Belgium (Tondo Films) and China (Spring Films, Beijing Culture). Loco Films is handling international sales and Beijing Culture Asia-Pacific sales. Cinéart is handling distribution for Benelux.

Thanks to the partnership with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), the second workshop of TIES THAT BIND 2017 will take place during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum, where the selected TTB projects will be presented together with 15 other selected projects from Southeast Asia to leading decision makers from Asia and Europe.

The participants will be also able to participate at the SAFF Conference on December 1, a one-day event bridging the gap between investors and producers, educating audiences on the creative and business sides of film financing. Top speakers from Asia and Europe will address the main topics around coproduction and financing between Europe and Asia.
