Call for Entries – Overview

The main goal of the FVG Audiovisual Fund is to support production companies from the Friuli Venezia Giulia and the regional audiovisual sector at large.

Nevertheless, in order to strengthen the collaboration between local production companies and foreign or non-regional producers, a series of funding schemes are in place.

Development

This financial support covers the costs of development of the project, including rights acquisition, scriptwriting, researches, production of a teaser and promotional activities of the project. Projects of feature films, short fiction films, documentaries and animation are all eligible.

To be eligible, the applicant must be a regional production company (a company with its registered office in Friuli Venezia Giulia) or a foreign/non-regional company with its operational headquarters in the region. In the latter case, to be eligible the entire team involved in the development of the project – director, author, etc – must be resident in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The applicant company must have no less than 50% of the rights (we do not support minority coproduction projects at development stage).

The support from the FVG Audiovisual Fund for the development stage can cover up to 50% of the total estimated development budget. The amount granted can be the below:

In any case the support can cover up to 50% of the total estimated development budget.

Distribution

This financial support covers the costs of production, post-production and promotion of the project. Projects of feature films, short fiction films, documentaries and animation are all eligible.

To be eligible, at the moment of the application the project must have already secured a distribution deal (sales agent, domestic distributor, broadcaster etc). Moreover, no less than 40% of the financing plan must be in place, with at least 10% of the total budget coming from the distribution deal(s).

To be eligible, the applicant must meet one of the following criteria:

  • The applicant is a regional production company and is the majority producer;
  • The applicant is a regional production company (a company with its registered office in Friuli Venezia Giulia), it is the minority producer but the project involves a considerable participation of regional professionals and facilities. The participation is deemed “considerable” when obtaining at least 6 points out of 21 on the basis of the scheme below;
  • The applicant is a foreign/non-regional company with its operational headquarters in the region, but the project involves a considerable participation of regional professionals and facilities. The participation is deemed “considerable” when obtaining at least 11 points out of 21 on the basis of the scheme below.

The support measures for the production and distribution stage can cover up to the 15% of the eligible costs for fiction feature films, up to 30% of the eligible costs for documentaries and animation and up to 50% of the eligible costs for short films. The amount granted per project can be the below:

    • If the applicant is a regional production company and is the majority producer: a maximum of €130.000 for feature films, documentaries and animation;
    • If the applicant is a regional production company (a company with its registered office in Friuli Venezia Giulia), it is the minority producer foreign/non-regional company with its operational headquarters in the region: a maximum of €70.000 for feature films, documentaries and animation;
    • A maximum of €10.000 for short feature films.
Training

FVG Audiovisual Fund further supports local audiovisual professionals and companies by offering financial support to attend workshops, training activities and internships that will boost their careers and enhance their standing and competitiveness within the industry.

To be eligible, the applicant must be one of the following:

      • A professional working in the audiovisual industry and who is a resident in the Friuli Venezia Giulia;
      • A company whose main activity is the audiovisual production, having its registered office and/or its operational headquarters in Friuli Venezia Giulia; in this case the beneficiary of the supported activity must be an employee of the company.
Application and selection process

There are three calls per year (approximately in March, June and September/October of each year) and applications must be submitted during the opening of the call. The dates of the call, the guidelines to apply and all relevant application documents can be found on our website.

Applications meeting the eligibility criteria are evaluated by a Technical Committee, which then selects projects for support and determines the awarded amounts.
