Based in a small, picturesque town on the border between Italy and Slovenia, the Coro di Ruda is an all male choir directed in a resolute manner by the charming Fabiana. The choir members are very different from one another yet their passion for singing unites them all. From the time of Fabiana’s arrival in 2003, the choir quickly began to rise to international success. The documentary reveals the lives and passion of these amateur singers and the sacrifices they must make in order to compete in worldwide singing competitions. The choristers are followed from one concert to another, in magnificent places until the viewer enters into their private lives, daily challenges and their interactions with Fabiana. Despite their multiple successes, there are internal problems which must be addressed: finding new choristers in the area, fund raising to allow the choir to develop more, the possibility of making a recording of the choir for commercial sales. In order to distinguish themselves among the many competent choirs, the group tries to evolve toward a repertory which includes polyphonic pieces adapted in a modern key. However, after various trials, the true success of the choir is reached through the perfection of their classic repertory followed by the winning of the gold medal at the coral Olympics in Graz.
