Cross media documentary project that aims to portray the lives and cultures of immigrants who have chosen Italy as their adoptive country.
New italians – Greetings from Italy is a collection of 3-minute video portraits – like “postcards” from 21st century Italy – in which immigrant citizens talk about themselves, their life stories and their hopes for the future. The objective of the video/portraits is that of giving a comprehensive 360-degree viewof these “new Italians”, often merely regarded as “guest workers”by the rest of the population and known only for their job function. Shot in the style of direct cinema, characterized sometimes by a witty and humorous approach and avoiding didactic or rhetorical under tones, this cross-media documentary project helps the viewers to get to know better this new Italians’
cultures, hopes, dreams and past. New italians – Greetings from Italy wants to provide its audience with a gateway into the variegated world of Italian immigration.
