Giovanni, a bank employee, one day approached by a singular man, the “Professor”, who manages to convince him to taste the first glass of wine in his life. The curiosity for wine soon becomes the focus of his existence. The desire to taste the great wines from around the world leads him to make the irregularities in the bank for which he was dismissed and Adele, his wife, leaves him. Alone and unemployed appears to have bottomed out, but fate led him in a short time to become Giovanni Cuttin “the wizard of wine”. Giovanni’s life becomes interesting, full of meetings, such as with Margherita, who accepts an invitation to dinner at his house. At dawn, the man wakes up alone in his bed. Someone knocks on the door insistently: is the police.
Adele died and the Police Chief Sanfelice accuses him of murder.
Margherita, his only alibi, has disappeared. Giovanni feels lost. During the long interrogation, however, begins to emerge that the ‘last period of his life seems to be linked by a complex pattern that the cop tries to rebuild. The investigation proceeds from the real world and a dreamlike transposition of reality, placing on the table all the pieces of the puzzle.
