The documentary film is a personal sight on the meeting between theoretical physics and different cultures, where the Cartesian “cogito ergo sum” never existed. The film is imagined as a journey along three episodes that explore the unknown land of scientific creation in the most poorest countries in the world, where the barriers to scientific knowledge are high, where sometimes the vision and awareness on the social role of science is higher. It is a change of perspective that starts from a historical event: the foundation of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste in 1964, with a very specific mission: sharing knowledge despite of the differences in culture, religion, race and gender.
Was it utopia? Or was it a visionary approach to the role of local scientific solutions for global problems?
