It’s the night of April 3, 1998 when Fila, a pioneering sailboat, is challenging the stormy ocean. Giovanni Soldini and his crew are about to accomplish the feat: breaking the speed record on the Atlantic. Soldini has just finished his turn at the helm and has gone down to his cabin when a pyramidal wave, of gigantic size, hits the boat and capsize it, breaking its mast and dragging the two men on deck into the sea. Fila is equipped with a rescue hatch, which is immediately opened by the crew who are inside. One of the two men who fell overboard miraculously manages to swim to that hatch.
NO MORE TROUBLE is the name of that safety opening, given by the young engineer and sailor who designed it. It was him, Andrea Romanelli, the only one missing on that tragic night. Swallowed by the ocean at 34, he was never found again.
This is the story of an extraordinary sports and human adventure, of the passion, talent, and madness that make feats possible, of the limit to which one must strive to achieve one’s dreams. But it is also the story of an absence, of a mute dialogue, of a son searching for his father. Andrea Romanelli was my father, and I retain no memory of him.
