As a hundred years ago thousands of soldiers left in long train convoys, so a bus with about twenty people also from other parts of Italy as well as from Trieste, Friuli and the Carso, leave from Trieste, the main city of a place that there is no longer, the Austrian Littoral, to Galicia another place that does not exist except as a historical region; a disappearance due to the rewriting of Central Europe at the end of the First World War. The real thread is the journey itself, during which the participants reveal the thoughts that emerged before and after visiting the places where their ancestors lived the experience of the First World War or the cemeteries in which some of them still rest today. The film makes use of unpublished documents, oral testimonies, letters written by and for the front, images of the protagonists of the war years from 1914 to 1918 on the eastern front and a contemporary reconstruction with re-enactors wearing uniforms or costumes of the time.
