In a quiet town in Friuli, Mauro Fantin, a well-known doctor, respected citizen and beloved family man, sadly passed away. His wife Irene, devastated by the loss, tries to bear the blow by looking after her teenage daughter Serena and her elderly mother Elda. Everything is ready for the home wake that anticipates the funeral: a mysterious woman, however, shows up before the others and locks herself inside the funeral chamber, seizing the body of the beloved ‘fu’. That woman’s name is Alba and for years she had been living with Mauro a parallel life in a second and secret family; between her and Irene it is time for a sudden, dramatic, at times awkward showdown, separated by a closed door that hides unimaginable truths.
