Le Sue Mani retraces the family legend and extraordinary adventure of Afdera Gavignano, a northern Italian noblewoman born in 1931 in Friuli, from her conception in Africa to the wisdom of old age in a self-exile in London. Named after the Afdera volcano, in the Horn of Africa, a region first explored by her father Raimondo in the 20s, she escaped from a deadly curse that hit two generations of her bloodline. Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, she understands the mysterious curse developments: the death of her father in a plane crash caused by a bomb, the visceral hatred of her elder sister, the incestuous love with her nephew. A saga of a lineage destined for extinction. A family unable to adapt to the globalized world becomes a reflection on the dynamics of our contemporaneity.
