The documentary is inspired by a visual anthropology study about Portis village; in particular it concerns the recovery of the collective and individual memory linked to the earthquake occurred in 1976, the emergency phase, the subsequent old Portis abandonment and the establishment of the Cooperativa Nuova Portis with the subsequent reconstruction of the village in a other location. The extraordinary anthropological interest of these events is due in having maintained signs of previous family and community life in the old leaved village. This making of the leaved village a place of memory and sociality makes Portis in Italy the unique event of “emptying” and reconstruction that does not cut the link of the inhabitants with the pre-seismic period.
