Two years after the sudden departure of his mother, Giordano, the film director, decides to face her house and all the objects it contains. The place has been left untouched and in a frozen state ever since that morning when firefighters broke into the window and found her dead. A glass of whiskey besides an armchair, some clothes hanging out to dry, a crosswords book on the bed, everything has been left as it was, as if she had just gone out, never to come back. Instead of emptying the house, Giordano turns it into his personal museum. He wanders around the house looking at her things, recreating his memories, trying to erase the last dramatic period in his mother’s life, which was ridden with grief for the departure of her second husband and left her alienated from the rest of the world. He tries to recover the image of the bright, independent and literate woman she once was. Giordano finally accepts the pain of his mother’s departure… and will he even be able to empty the house?
