Branko is a Croatian lorry driver working for an Italian company.
He spends 25 days a month on a lorry, driving down “Corridor 5”, and then returns to Spalato where his family lives. Surviving a war that has never really ended, he has transported goods from one end of Europe to the other for over 10 years, crossing a world made up of motorway restaurants, freight villages and kilometres and kilometres of asphalt, through cities, different languages and various landscapes. A world that apparently always seems to be the same, where places and roles appear defined more by economic coordinates, rather than by human factors.
However, also here, like elsewhere, life is marked by unexpected, original and surprising encounters, that can revolutionise one’s expectations of relationships and can unveil the humanity of this universe. The Croatian name Branko means desire, and Branko’s desire is to find a peaceful dimension to his own existence.
How long will Branko survive in his present condition as a European lorry driver?
