The Unabomber is an unknown criminal who terrorized North-East Italy, especially Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto, from 1994 to 2006. From the first bombs to increasingly refined explosives,
hidden inside commonly used objects, such as nutella jars, the Unabomber’s actions have engaged four prosecutors over more than ten years, mobilized public opinion in the country and created a growing psychosis. At least until 2004 when seventeen clues of guilt began to converge on Elvo Zornitta, an engineer from Pordenone, which transformed him into the monster that public opinion needed. After a tangled court case and various twists and turns, Zornitta was acquitted of all charges, but in the meantime his life was destroyed while the real Unabomber still remains out there.
