Staragara IT is an independent production company founded in 2021 and based in Gorizia, on the border between Italy and Slovenia.
The establishment of the company was the natural outcome of years of collaboration among its partners on numerous productions shot between Italy and Slovenia, both as co-productions and as providers of executive production services. Among these: Tutto il mio folle amore (2019) by Gabriele Salvatores, La ragazza ha volato by Wilma Labate (Venice/Orizzonti 2021), L’uomo senza colpa by Ivan Gergolet (Tallinn Black Nights 2022), Io vivo altrove! by Giuseppe Battiston, as well as numerous films and TV series for RAI and Mediaset.
The company’s first minority co-production, Little Trouble Girls by Urška Djukić, won the FIPRESCI Award at the Berlinale and the award for Best International Cinematography at the Tribeca Film Festival 2025. Coming soon is the Christmas dark comedy Ultimo Schiaffo by Matteo Oleotto, the company’s first majority production.
Despite its young age, Staragara IT can already count on a diverse and expanding line-up of authors, thanks also to its focus on discovering and launching emerging local talents.
